On September 12, 2024, a crucial technical workshop was held at Europe House in Pristina to discuss the operationalization of the National Point of Contact (NPC) for Mutual Recognition of Professional Qualifications (MRPQ). This workshop, an important step in advancing Kosovo’s alignment with European standards, was attended by key stakeholders, including representatives from the Ministry of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation (MESTI), the State Council for the Regulated Professions (SCRP), the Ministry of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade (MIET), and various other ministries, chambers, and stakeholders.

The event kicked off with opening remarks from officials representing the EU Office in Kosovo, the Prime Minister’s Office, MESTI, and the project’s Key Expert 2. The workshop focused on the presentation of the NPC report and a technical proposal for its operationalization in Kosovo, with discussions centering on how best to implement these recommendations.

A key highlight was the presentation by SNKE Sandra Kvaraciejienė from the Ministry of Economy and Innovation of Lithuania, who shared insights on the NPC for MRPQ and offered a detailed overview of the proposed operational framework for Kosovo. Following this, SNKE Gianina Chirazi, Romania’s National RPQ Coordinator, presented best practices from Romania’s experience, emphasizing EU standards and how Kosovo can adopt similar approaches.

The workshop concluded with an in-depth discussion among participants on the technical proposal, summarizing the outcomes of the consultation and outlining the next steps for the project’s progression.

This workshop marks a significant milestone in Kosovo’s efforts to enhance the recognition of professional qualifications, paving the way for greater alignment with European Union standards.
